2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV) Praise be to our God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Have you ever needed God to help you through something, anything stressful, scary, painful? Have you been ill, injured or in pain and cried out to God? Has it ever felt like your world is caving in on you? If you are a living, breathing person, the answer is yes. We have all been through stuff, but as a believer we do not have to go through stuff alone. A true believer, a Christian, can and should cry out to God in these situations because He wants to help you, guide you, deliver you, heal you, teach you, support you and comfort you. And He will if you let Him. With God you can get through these things.
Here is the good part. God will comfort you and get you through. And after you are through it and you have survived and you have overcome and you have the comfort of God, He wants you to comfort others with the comfort you have received! That is awesome. We are to take the hard times, the stressful times, the painful times we have gone through, in which God worked in our lives and where we received His comfort, and use it to comfort others who are going through their dark times. We need to come alongside those who may be hurting, who may be stressed, and share the comfort of God, the comfort we ourselves have received. As with all things with God, that which we have received freely from God we are to freely give to others. Be willing to share your comfort to help and encourage others to help them to get through their troubles with the comfort of God.
