Many times (27 to be exact) in the Bible God tells us those who have ears will hear what He has to say.
What does that mean? Doesn’t every one have ears?
He is not talking about physical ears. We can hear many things and tune things out. We choose the things we hear; that is, pay attention to. You can live in a very noisy place, such as near an airport. Over time you don’t even “hear” the planes overhead! You have become habituated to the sound so you no longer even notice it.
When God says “those who have ears will hear” He means those who pay attention to what He has to say. So many are “deaf” to God, even though Scripture says He is speaking all the time – even through the natural world – trying to get mankind’s attention.
Only those who care enough to pay attention will hear. When the Bible says we will help the deaf hear He doesn’t only mean the physically deaf. God is also talking about those who don’t have ears to hear, those who are deaf to the things of God.
How can the deaf hear the Good News if God’s people don’t speak it? How do we break through? Speak God’s Word only and it will penetrate. The Word has power. When you speak in unity with God’s Word there are two in agreement, which is powerful. You speaking God’s Word causes deaf ears to open.
The Word heard and believed will do mighty works in these last days.
Speak the Word in love and watch God move! Tune your ears to God. He is speaking. Are you listening?
