Is there an area in your life where you are lacking? Maybe you are struggling with a physical ailment, or perhaps there is a relationship in your life that has gone awry. Have you brought the situation up before the Lord and asked Him for help?
I am sure you see this in the lives of others. Can you see it in yourself? Maybe you think the issue is too small to “bother” God about. Or maybe you think the issue is so big there is no hope. I present to you neither of these thoughts are true.
In James we are told we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). We are encouraged to ask God for the things we lack. There are no parameters about the size of our request. Now, I know what you are thinking… God is omniscient so He already knows what I need. Why do I have to ask? He promises to do abundantly above all we ask or even think, right? 2 Cor 9:8
Take a look at Luke 18:35-42. A blind man is calling out to Jesus for mercy. Is it obvious he is blind? Yes! Does God know what he needs? Yes! But look what Jesus does. Vs 41 He asks the blind man what he wants. Why? Jesus is making a point here we should heed. You need to ask. Although God can, and often does, answer our needs even before we ask, He wants us to come before Him in humility. He wants us to recognize we can’t do everything on our own. He wants us to humble ourselves and ask Him because, by faith, we believe He hears us and answers our prayers (John 16:24, 1 Peter 3:12, 1 John 5:14-15).
So ask and watch God come through for you, for His Glory!
