Who do you serve? Everyone serves someone. Man was created to serve. Matt 6:24 says No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Ex 34:14: For you shalt worship no other god.
Some serve themselves. We see an increase of this as in the last days men will be lover’s of themselves (2 Tim 3:2). Part of this is serving flesh. Someone who loves themselves seeks what they think will please them – and this is usually carnal (fleshy). Hebrews 11:25 says sin is pleasurable for a season. The Word instructs husbands to love their wives as their own bodies (Eph 5:28) so there is nothing wrong with taking care of your flesh. Everyone is to be a good steward of their own body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) but you are not to serve your body. This is a fine line (being a good steward vs serving your flesh) and many cross it. The enemy knows if he can get a person serving their flesh he can get a foothold into their soul.
Some people choose to directly and knowingly serve satan. Some people unknowingly serve satan. According to Jesus if you do not call God your father than your spiritual father is satan (John 8:44).
Some people chose to serve other men. It is not wrong to work for, respect or honor people. While God put authority structures in place (Romans 13:1), when you first serve God you will sub-serve those in authority over you as unto the Lord.
Some people chose to serve God. God is a good leader. As a servant of God you are well cared for (Phil 4:19). Even the prodigal son knew his Dad took better care of his servants than worldly men did (Luke 15:17). Always give God first place as He takes care of those who serve Him (Psalm 84:11).
Choose this day who you will serve; Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord
