Is my work important?

By Pastor Dave

I am not a doctor or nurse or an EMS worker saving lives and making a difference. I am not a CEO or a director of a company. I am only a janitor, a carpenter, a clerk at a convenience store, a farm hand, a nobody. Do you think what you do is insignificant and makes no real difference in anyone’s life? It is not so. All work is honorable, all work makes a difference, all work is important.

The issue is, our society has become position/degree orientated. We think that those with degrees and titles are more important and more valuable then the rest of us. This is what the world thinks.

God sees things differently. He does not put importance on “what” you do as much as “how” you do what you do. KJV Colossians 3:23 And what so ever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. The NASB Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily , as for the Lord rather than for men. Also NASB Ephesians 6:7 With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men.

What you do is important and what you do makes a difference IF you do it as unto God. Do you work at your job with an enthusiastic attitude? Do you work with pleasing God the Father in mind? Do you work as if Jesus was standing right there with you? God wants His people to work for Him, work for His glory and work with gusto. When we do whatever we do for the Lord and not men, God is well pleased and our work, not matter what it is, becomes important. So what ever you do, do it as unto God.
