God knows your works

by Cindy Phillips

Do you realize nothing is hidden from God? When you read Chapters 2 and 3 of the Book of Revelation, you see Jesus telling each Church He knows their works. He then proceeds to let them know what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong. He ends each letter to the Church with an encouragement to overcome.

Why is this a big deal? God created you for a purpose. He created you for the works He determined for you to do before the foundation of the world (Eph 2:10). The question is, will you cooperate with His plan or will you decide for yourself how you will live and what you will do? This is not meant to be a condemnation (Rom 8:1 tells us there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus). Instead this should be viewed as an encouragement to get your focus where it should be (on God and His will for your life). Time is running out. Time only goes in one direction for us and it is finite. That means there is less time left by the time you get to this sentence than there was when you began reading. These truths should give you a sense of urgency to be about the Father’s business (Jesus is our example Luke 2:49).

Don’t you want to hear Him say to you, “Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matt 25:23)? That doesn’t just happen. God is a just judge and He knows everything you are doing and the motivation behind every action. Nothing is hidden from Him to which you will give an account (Ps 139:1-6, Prov 15:3, Heb 4:13).

Let today be a new day. Determine today to set your eyes on the One who loves you with a perfect love. Humble yourself before Him and ask Him what He wants you to do. This pleases Him as you ask in faith, believing He will give you wisdom when you ask (Jam 1:6). Stand fast and overcome evil with good (Rom 12:21). Don’t waste another moment. Your reward awaits you.
