Communication is key to a thriving relationship

by Pastor Dave

I just got off the phone with my wife. She often calls while on her lunch break. We call one another, we text one another and when we are together, we talk, about everything; big things, small things, important things, silly things, fun things, painful things, everything. We have a strong, secure and alive marriage because we talk. We communicate every day.

Many Christians have a strong, secure and alive salvation because they talk to our Lord and Savior and our Heavenly Father every day, and often, many times through out the day. I shared a while back about what prayer is. It is communication with God. Simply put, we need to talk to God and listen to God. Many Christians are weak, sad, defeated and alone because they do not communicate with God except when they are in trouble or desperate. Often then they blame God for their crisis when it is their own doing. They do not talk to God, they do not listen to God, they do not obey God and they suffer the consequences.

Good communication in a marriage is vitally important. The same applies to your walk with God. Prayer allows you to get to know your heavenly Father and it allows you the opportunity to learn from God and to be guided by the Holy Spirit. God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit want only good things for you, to prosper you, lead you, guide you, mature you, strengthen you and to be active in your life. Talk to Him. Yes its called prayer, but it is simply communicating with Him.

Read the following scriptures. 1 Timothy 2:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:16, 1Peter 4:7, Colossians 4:2, Philippians 4:6-7, Ephesians 6:18 and Romans 12:12. Think on these, consider them, and do them.
