Spring is coming. You can feel it in the air. You can hear it in the songs of the birds. It sounds like a revival!
March is known as the month that starts one way and ends in the opposite way. It’s either “in like a lamb, out like a lion” or “in like a lion, out like a lamb”. Of course, my mind has to wonder where this phrase came from. If you search for the meaning online, you will find some interesting options, such as;
Astronomical theory suggests a connection to the zodiac: Leo (the Lion) rises in the sky during March, while Aries (the Ram, symbolizing a lamb) becomes prominent by April. Another interpretation ties the phrase to Christian symbolism, where Jesus is seen as the sacrificial Lamb of God (at His first coming) and the triumphant Lion of Judah (at His return), reflecting the spiritual journey of Lent and Easter.
In any case, the phrase refers to the ending of one season (a stormy winter) to the starting of another (new spring growth). To me, it reminds me of what the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13–14 …one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
I love this verse. So many times in my walk it has reminded me what is past, is past. You can’t do anything about what was. Today is a new day. It is filled with potential. You have every chance to win victory over that which tries to bring you down. Let’s be found always reaching forward to what lies ahead and press into the goal – the ultimate prize – the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Set your sights on things above, and not on the things of the earth (Col 3:2). Revival is coming!
