Be Courageous

By Cindy Phillips

Courage. What is courage? Courage is mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. It takes courage to stand when those around you are falling. As people who trust in Jesus (in His finished work on the cross, making us right with God Almighty), we should be able to stand for righteousness no matter what is going on around us. Will you take His side, no matter the cost?

When you know your true place, the things of the world will not move you. Courageous believers set their minds on things above, not on the things of the earth (Col 3:3). When your focus is on God and His things, the world must take second place. Second place is really no place at all because you can’t have two masters. You can’t serve God AND serve the world (Matt 6:24). Put another way, either God is your master and His things your focus of obedience or the world is your focus. That’s what it means to set your mind; it means focus.

Do you believe God knows your needs? You will say, “Yes, of course”. Do your actions match your words? If you truly know God knows your needs, then you will trust Him with all your cares. Carefully, slowly, thoughtfully read Mathew 6:25-34. Do you see it? God has PROMISED you will have all you need from His endless provision. This is so much different than how the world thinks and acts.

When you put the world first, you get what you work for. When you put God (and His Kingdom) first, He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Phil 4:19)! Be courageous and dare to trust God at His Word.
