See The Bigger Picture

By Cindy Phillips

Why did God the Father send Jesus, His only begotten Son, to die for the world? Why did God send Jesus to die for YOU? It was not because of His love for YOU (although God does love YOU). It was because God IS love (1 John 4:8) and He expressed that love to the whole world by sending Jesus to redeem it (John 3:16, Eph 1:7).

At the end of the 6th day of creation God said 2 things;

  1. It is finished. There was no more to create. Genesis 2:2
  2. It was very good. What He had created was perfect! Genesis 1:31

God created, completely, something that was very good. Then high treason happened and the fallen cherubim, Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:14a), tempted the crown of His creation and spoiled that which was very good. Could God have prevented this from happening? Yes! Instead of preventing it from happening He set up a way to make it very good again. God did it to restore. You reap the benefits of this restoration when you accept Jesus finished work for yourself.

God did it so love would win and light would prevail over darkness (John 1:5). God activated His plan of redemption for His Name’s sake and to make His mighty power known (Psalm 106:8). Rejoice! Often, in our humanity, are so we-focused we miss the bigger picture. God has a great plan. This plan is in play and He is using His children as ministers, ambassadors (Eph 6:20), to implement that plan. How can you partner with Him today to make His Name known?

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your love and for the redemption You made available to me. Show me how I can serve you today. Help me to reflect your Glory in all I do.
