Which side are you on?

By Pastor Dave

Are you of the world or of Christ? Are you religious or saved? Do you have a knowledge of God or a relationship with God? I have encountered many people whose life is a mess and they want God to fix things for them. They say they believe in God and they say they pray to God. But I see that they still live in the world and live by the world standards. They use foul language, they get drunk, they use drugs, they try to fix things in their own way and refuse to do what God wants them to do. They don’t read the Bible, they don’t go to church and they don’t fellowship with other believers. Their lives are a mess because of the choices they have made and continue to make. But they want God to fix things so they can continue on their road of pain and misery.

When we look at the Scriptures we see a different story. 1 John 2:15 (NASB) Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 1 John 3:6 (NASB) No one who lives in Him (Jesus) keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him.

What is this saying? If you keep on sinning after saying you are a child of God, you are not a child of God. There are many who think God is their Santa Clause. They think they can be good for a day or two and pray and God will fix their life and then they can go back to their old way of life. If that is you, the Bible teaches that you do not know God and you are not a child of God. You are not saved.

If any of this describes you, I plead with you to honestly look at yourself. Honestly seek God, listen and obey. If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth you will be saved (Romans 10:8-11). You can not earn it, you cannot be good enough. You need to come to Him by faith in what He has done for you. When you are truly saved, born again, your spirit will change and you will start to shed the things of the world and, little by little, you will change into more Christ-likeness. I pray you start today.
