2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV) The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
When I plant my gardens, I take in mind what type of harvest I want and from what vegetables. I want a good amount of beets and not so many carrots, so I sow my seeds accordingly. When I plant my potatoes, I decide how many yellow, how many white, how many red, and how many purple potatoes I want and plant accordingly.
This principal also applies to our finances. As believers, we need to put our full trust in God and that includes our money. God’s word is true and never fails. We need to determine in our heart what we want to give and trust God for. I can personally witness the blessing of giving into God’s kingdom. I have reaped bountifully because I have trusted God with my finances. I learned to give when I barely had enough money to pay my bills and God blessed me. Since then, I have learned to give and give abundantly, to church, to ministries, to individuals and to where else God may direct. And I have not had any lack. God has always been faithful to provide.
So, you may ask, “you want us to give to God so we can get from God?” Well, no and yes. No, meaning that our hearts need to be right. We give because of all He has done for us, because we love God and want to bless His ministries. Yes, because the principal in the Bible is true and sure. It clearly says that if we give bountifully we will reap bountifully. And if we give sparingly, we will reap sparingly. You can not out-give God.
If you trust God with your finances, He will bless you in so many ways and not just financially. He will bless your health, your possessions, your property and so much more. I would encourage you to give into the Kingdom of Heaven and determine in your heart how much you want to give and give it and then trust God that you can increase it and see what God will do for you.
