Are you all in?

By Cindy Phillips

Throughout history, God has called many to undertake what must have seemed, at the time, impossible tasks. There were some who just responded in faith and obedience. Look at Noah (Gen 6:22), Abram (Gen 12:1-4) and Mary (Luke 1:38). However, most have initially responded with disbelief or excuses. Look at Moses (Ex 4:10) and Jeremiah (Jer 1:6) for examples in Scripture. Believers in today’s world often find themselves conflicted over how to best divide their attention between the world and God. We claim Jesus is our Savior, but we still spend the bulk of our day making sure the mortgage is paid, the chores are done, and the family is happy. We believe God should have a place in our lives but we also believe that it is ok for us to determine what that place is.

When God’s call moves us outside our comfort zone, we become doubtful and confused. Instead of instant obedience, we respond with endless questions. Does God really want me to do this? What will my friends think? What will my Church think? What if it doesn’t work out?

It is times like this we should step back and examine our hearts. Where do our loyalties lie, with God or the world?

Matt 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

When God reveals His plan for your life, how will you respond? God has a calling for each and every one of us. It is our responsibility to study His Word, pray, listen and grow in our understanding of His plan so that we will be ready when He calls. How we answer Him will determine the course of our lives and the treasures we store up in Heaven. After all, …we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:10)

I want to encourage you to be all-in for God. Set your mind on things above, not on the things of this earth, so that when He calls, you will be quick to respond, “yes, Lord, here I am, use me”!
