Do what God tells you to do

by Pastor Dave

Have you ever, as a child, been angry or upset with a parent when they tell you to do something, or to not do something, that your sibling did not have to do? Did you ever say, “what about them?” Have you ever felt like you get the hard jobs and others get off easier than you? Have you ever felt that way with God? Let’s be honest now.

When God speaks to us about a issue, a sin, an attitude, a behavior or a needed change in our lives, don’t we tend to look at someone else and say to God, “what about him/her?” We often do not like it when our Heavenly Father deals with us about these things and therefore, we want to deflect the attention to someone else. We see this in the gospel of John 21:15-22. We see Jesus telling Peter about his future and Peter receives a hard word and then looks and see John and says to Jesus, “What about him?” Jesus basically says to Peter, don’t worry about him, you do what I tell you to do. And that, my dear friends, is what Jesus is tell you also. You do what Jesus is telling you. Do not look at others and their walk. You walk the walk He has called you to. Keep your eyes on Him and yourself.

So, what has God been saying to you?
