Spiritual Growth takes effort

by Pastor Dave

Monday night I have started a work-out routine with my son Caleb. The problem is, I usually do not “feel” like working out. It is hard, and takes effort, and I need to make it a priority. If I want to be healthy, strong and feel good I need to push through the “feelings”. The same is true about my spiritual health. I need to read, study, pray and worship even if I do not “feel” like it. I need to make it a priority. I need to push through and do it. Spiritual growth does not just happen. Spiritual strength does not just happen. You have to make it important to yourself. You need to make it a priority. You need to push through the “you don’t feel like it”.

Most boys want to feel strong, but few will do the work necessary to become strong. Most Christians want to be spiritually strong and spiritually mature. But are you willing to put in the work? It doesn’t just happen.
